About DRP
The Data Resource Program, DRP, is a conduit connecting researchers to sources for data.
Philosophy
We believe that effective commercial relationships between firms are critical to the economic performance, competitive advantage, and well being of the individual firms involved and of the national economy. We believe that focused, innovative, and impactful academic research will translate into highly relevant knowledge for application in making these highly effective commercial relationships between firms. As such, the Institute for the Study of Business Markets has founded the Data Resources Program.
Mission
The Data Resources Program's (DRP) fundamental mission is to support the ISBM mission of fostering leading edge Business-to-Business research. The specific role of the DRP is to enlarge and increase researchers' access to data and data sources on which powerful testing of innovative research questions can be based.
To facilitate research involving the strategies, programs, activities, and relationships of firms involved in buying from and selling to other firms, the DRP will focus on the following:
- Informing researchers on the sources, types, extent of data available from public sources
- Providing links or direct access to such publicly available sources
- Providing a forum in the B-to-B research community for evaluating, vetting, and in some cases usefully configuring publicly available data
- Informing researchers on the availability, extent, and types of data available through private commercial sources
- Providing to the extent possible links to private commercial sources
- Acting as liaison to gain researcher access to private commercial data
- Providing to the extent possible direct access to private commercial data
- Providing a forum in the B-to-B research community for evaluating, vetting, and as appropriate usefully configuring private commercial data
The DRP is an evolving arm of ISBM and will continually explore and pursue existing and new venues for enlarging and increasing researchers' access to data useful in leading edge B-to-B research.
